School Uniforms. Yes or No?

I decided to go with a simple topic, which is should school uniforms be required in Schools? It is indeed a very basic topic but at the same time it is a very important question worth looking into. Being recently out of high school I remember what it is like to hear what kids said about the other students not being cool enough or rich enough to have any friends.  It’s safe to say that the majority of schools in the U.S. don’t currently have school uniforms. Letting kids have the freedom to express their selves, through clothing in this case, is very constitutional but it gets a lot of kids in trouble. Many clicks are formed based on what each kid is wearing and I feel this ostracizes a lot of kids. Some kids are looked down on and picked on, or bullied, because they cannot afford to buy the expensive designer clothing. The requirement of school uniforms would ultimately allow kids to look at each other as equals. This would cut down on a lot of the bullying problems which would in turn make the students a lot safer. Also, it would help to “hide” gang clothing. If kids weren’t allowed to wear whatever they wanted the students in gangs couldn’t be identified, which would cut down on in school violence between rival gangs and such. This too is a way to help make the students safer.

Research Topics

I narrowed my topics into three general categories which include education, science, and politics. The education topic could be broken down into anything from school uniforms to how the money is being distributed throughout the schools and if its being focused more into sports or learning. It would be easy to argue for or against school uniforms but i feel the money topic could also be an interesting thing to go with. The science topic has many great research topics to go with it. If i chose it i could go with how cloning is a rising interest among the science community, but i also could take it in the direction of how stem cell research is viewed as negative or positive among society. The political topic would be a little harder to stay focused with but can be taken in many directions also. It could be directed towards how high the campaign budget is or how electoral votes are utilized in elections.
